Vehicle arson in Everett

On Monday, April 20th at 11 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to a vehicle fire parked in a residential driveway in the Township of Adjala-Tosorontio (Everett).
The owner of the vehicle reported that he heard noise out the front of his residence and when he investigated he observed a male suspect smash the window in his vehicle and throw a flaming object into the interior of the vehicle. The owner pursued the suspect on foot, however the suspect was last seen running northbound on County Road 13 from Dekker Street.
The suspect is described as, male, short hair, skinny build, wearing a grey and black hoody with the hood partially pulled up over his head.
The fire had not fully ignited in the vehicle, and the when the owner returned to it – it was smouldering. The OPP canine unit responded, however the track was unsuccessful.
The scene was processed, and evidence is being examined by an OPP Scenes of Crime Officer and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit.
The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit are engaged and are investigating further. The investigators suspect that the arson was targeted and is not random.
