Dear editor:
The first tree planting day of the season held on Saturday, April 24th in Adjala-Tosorontio was a huge success. There were 50 volunteers who planted and mulched 400 native trees and shrubs along Sheldon Creek. Volunteer support for this joint South Simcoe Streams Network/Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority event came from the Everett Guides and Scouts groups as well as the community at large, youth through CONTACT South Simcoe, and the Town of Adjala-Tosorontio.
The Landowner hosted a BBQ for the volunteers and Sheldon Dairies donated chocolate milk to top off a job well done!
In New Tecumseth, volunteer plants start this Saturday, May 2nd in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham. Guides and Scouting groups will be out on both days along with some local business associates, high school students and local families. There is still time to register for those interested in helping out! Call 705 435-1540 ext. 102 or e-mail
