Visitor on horseback

Dear editor:
We had a surprise visit from a 66 year old lady, Megan Lewis from Wales, who rode in to our farm on horseback. She is trekking across Canada and the USA. She asked if she could stay for the night – we were delighted. We heard about her other trips across China, Russia, France, Spain etc. Her horse on this trip was Lady, a Newfoundland Pony who handles the traffic very well and has been her companion and friend along the way. On one of her trips, she fell and broke 6 ribs, a clavicle and punctured a lung … but after a short convalescence she was back in the saddle covering about 25 miles a day. She supports an agency that helps children in the slums of Nairobi , Kenya. She headed out Monday morning heading for the Bruce Trail that is available from our 3rd line area south of Tottenham. We marveled at her courage and determination. More about her can be reached by her blog at “The Long Horse Ride”.
