Beeton Legion news

Dear editor,
Here we are in the fourth week of August. Before I get started on our last couple of weeks we at the Legion would like to congratulate Al Gray and John Gould who won at golf at both the zone level and the district level. They will be playing in the provincial championships next month in Owen Sound. Way to go guys and good luck!
Two weeks ago was another successful Meet Your Neighbour Picnic and our Second Annual Outdoor Dart Tournament, we had 18 players and had a great day. Our 50/50 draw profit of just over $120 went to the Our Town Food Bank. Thank you to everyone that helped out that day. The tournament will be called ‘Darts in the Park’ from now on.
This past weekend we had our Annual Golf Tournament at the Ponderosa. The weather was great as was the golf we had 26 golfers. We started the day with peameal on a bun cooked buy our president and finished with a lovely roast beef dinner back at the Legion cooked by Randy Crumbie and his mom Irene. Again thank you to all that helped put this great day on – including the Ponderosa Golf Club. Without volunteers days like the Meet Your Neighbour Picnic and our Golf Tournament would not happen.
Just another reminder that our Thursday night Fall Dart League will be starting up in the second week of September. There is a sign up sheet at the bar, get your names in early. We want to also remind the community that every one is welcome at the Legion. We also have a blind draw night on Friday nights as well as a Sunday afternoon league, come out and join in the fun.
Our Early Bird Membership Drive also starts next month, $50 for a years membership, a good deal to be part of something very important.
