May 2, 2013   ·   0 Comments

This Saturday, May 4th, marks a special occasion for the Renegade Derby Dames. Not only is it their second double header, but it will be the first time an out of province league will be visiting. The first bout of the evening will feature the hometown Bombshell Battalion, eager to notch their first win of the 2013 season, against the upstart Tata’s of Greater Sudbury Roller Derby. The second bout will feature RDD’s Misfit Militia taking on Les Duchesses of Roller Derby Quebec.

The Bombshell Battalion will be lead by team captain Flyin’ O’Brien and will feature the usual motley crew of Dames, a cast of characters with personalities to match their names. Flyin’ O’Brien will be at the forefront of a line-up featuring  Monster Muffin, Megan P.I., Grizzly Locks, Keri Daway, Go-Dive-A, Pink Slamminade and many more.  The Tata’s of GSRD will be playing one of their very first bouts in league history and should be an exciting match up for the Battalion.

The Misfit Militia will be making their season debut with a somewhat revamped roster from a season ago. Led by captain Renny Rumble, the Militia will be looking to start 2013 off with a win against tough opponent in Les Duchesses. Renny Rumble will be leading a core that uncludes holdovers Zombabe, Bellefast, Randy-Roll-Lin, Smoka Cola, DezzStroy-Her and many more. New additions to the line-up are Mad Cow Tipper, Mandi Blaze, Stringer and Red Hot.

The double header will be an incredible night of athletic action and the arena will be packed with vendors, sponsors and merchandise from all of the participating leagues. Concessions will once again be provided by Rocco’s Bakery, with proceeds going to the production of future home bouts and the Dames’ training.

Advance tickets for the licensed all ages event can purchased from ticketscene.ca, Crabby Joe’s in Alliston, Rumbling Rage Derby Shop in Barrie or from any of your local Dames for $10. Tickets will be $15 at the door, which opens at 5:30, with the first bout scheduled for 6. The after party will be held at Crabby Joe’s in Alliston.

After the double header this weekend, the schedule picks up again for the Renegade Derby Dames, with both teams heading all over Ontario to compete. The Bombshell Battalion will next head to Fergus on May 25th to take on the Fergus Feims before returning home to take on the Royal City Roller Girls of Guelph on June 8th. The Misfit Militia will compete in the Roller Derby Association of Canada Eastern Regional tournament for the second straight year in Windsor on June 15th & 16th followed by a trip to Guelph to take on the Brtue-Leggers.
