The Rotary Club of Alliston hosted its second annual Wine Tasting and Dinner Jan. 25 at the Gibson Centre for Art and Culture.
The event was open to Rotary members, as well as interested residents, and everyone had fun sipping, sampling and raising funds at this popular charity event.
Proceeds from the wine tasting will be used to help a Syrian refugee family moving into the area.
Rotarian Don Smith provided an update about the Syrian family at the onset of the event. He said the family, consisting of a mother, father and four children, are currently in Lebanon and are expected to be in Alliston within the month.
“The organizing committee has just secured accommodation and they are receiving great support from the community to fill the house with all the things the family will need,” said Smith.
Dinner for the event was prepared by Beth Hunt and the staff of The Globe Restaurant.
Four sumptuous courses were served to compliment four selected wines.
Sommelier, Daniel McDonough, led event goers through a lesson on understanding food and wine pairings as the courses were served.
The evening was a true success, with everyone leaving happy, full and with an elevated knowledge of wines – all while helping New Tecumseth’s newest residents.
