I would like to tell you about an incredibly talented, strong, beautiful young athlete who couldn’t get more humble and kind then Giuliana Pallotta.  “Joolz”, as she is affectionately known to friends and family, is an incredible role model especially in today’s society when people talk about the youth of today.
Joolz does not fit this “youth of today” stereotype. Joolz at a young age fell in love with the game of hockey and would rather have a hockey stick in her hand than a remote control or a video game controller.  She started off playing ice hockey and ball hockey in Beeton and soon took her love of the sport with her all the way up to university where she graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University as Captain for the Laurier Golden Hawks.
However, this small town girl is once again going to put Beeton on the world map as she has been chosen to represent Canada on the women’s Canadian Ball Hockey team. This year the Ball Hockey World Championship 2017 will be taking place in Pardubice Czech Republic in June 2017.
The players are responsible for paying for all their own expenses such as airfare, accommodations and food. To help reduce the costs of her trip, Joolz and one of her other teammates, Devon, are currently organizing a women’s ball hockey tournament in her home town of Beeton on Saturday, May 13 at the Beeton Arena starting at 8:30 a.m. All teams are guaranteed three games and participants receive a lunch.
We would like to welcome any players or teams interested in participating in this fundraising tournament to contact Giuliana Pallotta at 905-801-5170.
Even if you are not ball hockey player, there is something for everyone! Mother’s Day flowers for sale, bake sale, raffle tickets and 50/50. Come share the love of the sport and wish the girls good luck as they get ready to leave for Pardubice, Czech Republic.
