The 11th annual Kevin Lord Memorial Foundation Spring Classic golf tournament held June 3 at Bear Creek Golf Club was a great success with 107 golfers enjoying a bright sunny day of golf for a great cause.
The tournament is held annually in memory of Kevin Lord, a past New Tecumseth resident and aspiring hockey and ball hockey athlete who lost his life in 2006 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. The fundraiser raises money for many different causes within and outside the community.
This year, a special challenge hole was set up to help raise specific funds in support of Jaida’s Challenge and the Cumberland family from Loretto.
Helen Cumberland commented: “Steve and I attended the Kevin Lord Memorial Spring Classic graciously hosted by Al and Judy Lord. This year the Lords chose Jaida’s Challenge as one of the causes they raise funds for through the tournament. Al and Judy presented us with a cheque for $1,000 to go towards our Wheelchair Van Conversion Campaign. We are so appreciative of your generous donation and everything that you do for our community in honour of your beautiful son’s memory.”
“Helen and Steve, we were very proud to support your campaign in memory of Jaida. It would not have been possibly without the support of all who participated in our golf tournament fundraiser this year. Keep up your great work and good luck,” said Al Lord.
Al Lord presents a cheque for $1,000 to Helen and Steve Cumberland, part of the proceeds from the Kevin Lord Memorial tournament.
