The TNT Express Bantams played a solid game against the Orangeville Outlaws on Sunday, (July 9) they just couldn’t score.
After getting their first touchdown early on a goal from Colbin MacInnis, they Express couldn’t get past the O-ville defence for the rest of the game.
They had some good effort including a quarterback sack from Josh Vollering in the second quarter.
The squad went to the throwing game with a successful long pass from QB Jake Barker to Trisden McKinnon to bring the team down field but the half ended before they could finish.
Kane Jacques ran for a first down early in the third quarter to place the Express in good field position but a fumble recovered by Orangeville overturned possession of the ball.
The TNT defensive line worked hard to stop the Outlaws advance from mid field with good stops on the line from Dylan Carson, Jordan Pike, Josh Vollering, and Ethan Mahon.
TNT’s Fernando Ianett crashed through the Orangeville and made a tackle to drop the Outlaws for yards.
Back on offence, Cobin MacInnis had a huge run to bring the Express to the 40 yard line.
That was followed up by a first down run by Jake Barker.
Despite a few good opportunities the Express couldn’t score and had to settle for a 40-6 loss for the day.
The loss gives the Express a 2-5 record for the season.
The bantams have three games left on the regular season schedule and all are road games.
On Saturday, July 15, they will travel to Toronto to take on the Jets. Game time is 11 a.m.
