Deputy Mayor will be sadly missed

The Town of New Tecumseth is deeply saddened by the passing of Deputy Mayor Jamie Smith. Smith passed away in his home on August 1st from a heart related complication.
“On behalf of Council and staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Deputy Mayor Smith’s wife Kathy, their children, family and friends. Mr. Smith served as a Councillor for the Town of New Tecumseth from 2003 until 2014 when he became Deputy Mayor. With gratitude for his service to our community and in his honour, all Town flags will be lowered to half mast in celebration of Deputy Mayor Smith. Flags will remain at half mast until sunset on the day of his funeral,” reads a press release.
The funeral will take place Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 125 Wellington St. W., Alliston.
