The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is requesting that members of the public be aware of flooding in the Townships of New Tecumseth, Adjala–Tosorontio and Essa.

Many roadways through these areas have experienced flooding. Residents and travellers through these areas are to expect road closures due to high water levels.

Don’t drive through any standing water because it could be deeper than it appears and never go around a barrier.

OPP would like to remind the public to keep their children, as well as themselves, away from ditches, streams and rivers as they are swollen. This weakens their embankments and the water is fast flowing.

OPP is asking the public NOT to use 9-1-1 to obtain information about weather and road conditions. 9-1-1 is strictly for emergencies.
