People in Transition “My Sister’s Place” (the local women and children’s shelter) hosted a fundraiser at The Circle Theatre on Saturday, June 2 featuring local spiritual medium and author, Chris Stillar.

For a nominal fee ($30), guests were invited to join Stillar in person as he answered questions, and made connections between those in spirit and their loved ones in the audience during his show, Reaching Out.

A working medium for 22-years, Stillar is the host of three seasons of Seeking Spirit (available for viewing on YouTube) and has authored the book, Pennies from Heaven. He is also the only spiritual guide to be recognized by MADD Canada.

Proceeds from the sold-out event will be used to offset operational costs at the shelter, which runs at capacity most of the year.

My Sister’s Place Executive Director, Deborah Harrington, said the ask wasn’t “sexy” but it’s what the shelter needs.

Stillar started his show by explaining that he had originally wanted to be a doctor, as he’d always felt a calling to help people, but through his gift he’s able to “bring life back to the living” by relaying messages from the dead.

With a lot of “first timers” and non-believers in the audience, Stillar answered questions and shared stories about past clients.

He first discovered his abilities (not a gift, as he charges) after suffering a brain injury that left him confused, and then conversing with his grandmother who had passed.

Tickets for the two-and-a-half hour sold-out event were available at Lovett Lock and Key, Alliston; First Choice Hair Cutters, Alliston; Naturally For You Health Store, Angus; One Love One Heart Yoga, Beeton.
