Yes, it’s that time of year again.

Hockey season is getting underway and the Alliston Junior C Hornets will be hosting their annual pre-season tournament at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre this weekend.

The Hornets have been running the main camp at the NTRC for the past few weeks to get ready for the 2018 / 19 season.

The 11th annual Hornets tournament will bring Junior teams from around the region for some exciting pre-season action.

Along with the host team, other squads entered are Georgina Ice, Orillia Terriers, Penetang Kings, Little Britain Merchants, Schomberg Cougars, Port Dover Sailors, Huntsville Otters, and the Port Perry Mo Jacks.

Games get underway on Friday night, September 7, with the Hornets facing off against the Georgina Ice in the first game of the tournament at 7 p.m.

Games will continue all day Saturday with the finals being played on Sunday.

The Hornets will be back after a successful 2017/18 season that saw them go all the way to the Caruthers Division final against the Stayner Siskins.

The Hornets lost the final series in five games.

The Siskins continued on the Schmalz Cup playoffs but lost to the Lakefield Chiefs in the next round.

The Provincial Junior Hockey League schedule will start on Tuesday, September 11.

The Hornets opening game will take place at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Friday, September 14, when they host the Caledon Golden Hawks.

Game time is 7.30 p.m.
