Haunted Hallowe’en Adventure at the Steam Train

The South Simcoe Railway hosted its annual Haunted Hallowe’en Adventure on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.

Dressed in their Hallowe’en costumes children and their parents arrived at the Tottenham Station just past dusk, to take in the ghosts, pumpkins, candy… and trains!

The fun, not-too-scary family-oriented Hallowe’en adventure, took passengers from the station to Nowhere and return, with a few surprises along the way.

Prizes for best children’s costume and best adult’s costume were also awarded on each trip, and candy treats were given out as well, for a sweet finish to a fun evening.

Although the South Simcoe Railway is now closed for the season, the next special event planned is the Santa Claus Express, where families can ride the train with Santa.

“When it gets close to Christmas, every girl and boy starts to think about Santa … and they can visit the jolly old soul right here at the South Simcoe Railway,” reads the SSR’s website. “There’s nothing better than a slight chill in the air, a light dusting of snow, and Santa and his elves on board the train. You’ll ride in our 1920s vintage coaches, pulled by our historic diesel locomotive.

“Every child gets a personal visit with Santa as he comes through the train and hears what they want for Christmas. For a sweet finish, his elves will hand out candy canes.”

Share the spirit of Christmas on the Santa Claus Express!”
