Members of the Alliston Lions Club gathered at their hall on Boyne Street last week to sort out food and toys, and pack Christmas Hampers for distribution to community members in need.

The Christmas Hamper Program started in 1937, and has continued to grow each year since then.

“This year we are anticipating to help 180 families and 270 kids,” said Lion Jaime Karsch Public Relations Chair. “We are distributing the Christmas Hampers on Friday December 21st and Saturday December 22nd.”

Although collections came from all over, the Lions do wish to recognise a few special contributors:

• Tosorontio Central Public School donated 1745 items of non perishable food.

• Nottawasaga Inn Resort donated 2516 pounds this year and have donated 38,548 pounds to date.

• Adjala–Tosorontio Fire & Rescue held there Annual Jim Kenn memorial food drive in Everett and they collected 4276 pounds of food.

“A huge thank you to our generous community for their generous donations and support we couldn’t do it without your help,” said Lion Karsch.
