The local Tottenham council of the Knights of Columbus organized their annual Free Throw competition for students again this year with the finals held on Saturday morning.  Students aged 9 to 13 participated.  Their schools each staged the knock-out heats with the finalists in each age group participating at Father F. X. O’Reilly School Gym.  In all, 29 finalists from St. James School in Colgan, Monsignor JE Ronan School in Beeton and Father F. X. O’Reilly School in Tottenham competed in a best of 15 shots contest for medals and the opportunity to go to the District finals in Bolton this coming Saturday.

“The Knights of Columbus has been organizing a Free Throw competition in Tottenham for many years and it is always popular with students, parents and schools alike.  Promoting participating in sport in this fun way is one of our key community programs,” said Enrico Basco, Deputy Grand Knight.

The finalists (pictured) with Deputy Grand Knight, Enrico Basco, were Liam Trentadue, Alexia Iliadis, Dimitri Tsoutsos, Juliana Cavicchia, Massimo Colozza, Sianna Ava Buonanno, Gabe Ianetta, Mikayla Halovanic, Emmanuel Myers and Mackenzie Lothian.

The Knights of Columbus is a world-wide Catholic fraternal service organization.  The Tottenham Council was chartered in 1955 with the purpose of supporting the local community through a range of programs and fundraising initiatives.
