The Next Step Literacy Council of South Simcoe will host its tenth annual “Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee” on Saturday, April 13 at the Club at Bond Head.

Celebrated Canadian author Lawrence Hill, author of several popular works including The Illegal and The Book of Negroes, is this year’s special guest judge.

During the adult spelling bee, costumed teams of three players will compete, enjoy a delicious dinner, and be part of an exciting awards ceremony. All sponsors and supporters will receive charitable tax receipts, along with numerous promotional opportunities based upon their contributions.

The money raised at this year’s event will be used to make improvements to Next Step’s building in downtown Alliston, with a fundraising goal of $20,000.
