Kevin Lord Memorial Foundation’s Golf Classic raises thousands for kids

The Kevin Lord Memorial Foundation 13th annual Spring Classic Golf Tournament was held on Saturday, May 25 at Bear Creek Golf Club.

This year, 116 golfers attended and raised $9,300.

A special challenge hole was set up this year in support of Camp Ooch, a camp for kids with cancer. The proceeds from that alone of $1,200 allowed the Foundation to send two children to the camp located in Muskoka for a weekend, where they can enjoy all the summer outdoor activities with other children and overnight stay while still being able to receive their needed medical treatments of chemotherapy and blood transfusions from the medical staff right on site.

The foundation also continues to support two main organizations, The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and Matthews House Hospice, and other worthy causes and families in need.

“This year and every year, we are so thankful to everyone who has continued to support our family’s efforts in raising money for others in our son Kevin’s memory”, said Al Lord.  “A special thank you also to all the staff at Bear Creek Golf Club for their excellent hospitality and for the beautiful steak dinner they provided.”

Next year’s tournament has already been booked back at Bear Creek Golf Club and will be on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
