As the football season winds down, the TNT Express’ youngest players finally had a chance to get on the gridiron and show what they have been learning over the past few months.

The Tyke and Atom division are no longer supported by the League so the Express ran their own football program to introduce the younger players to the game.

The Tykes and Atoms have been practicing together on the field at Mel Mitchell park in Beeton since April.

Coaches teach the players football positions, how to tackle an opponent, how to block, pass and catch.

They also teach the nuances of the game and how to set up and run plays on the field.

The young players take to the sport with a lot enthusiasm and enjoy getting suited up in their football gear.

On Tuesday, July 23, the young players got chance to show their skills when they went up against the older Express peewee team in a mid-week game.

The younger players showed a lot of tenacity in the game and a lot of speed once they got their legs moving and were carrying the ball.

The Express have had a lot of success over the past few years. By getting younger players involved in the sport, the club nurtures successful futures teams as experienced players move up the divisions.

The Tyke Atom team have developed a lot of skill over the past few months.

Players returning for next season will have the skills they need to be competitive on the gridiron.
