The Alliston Athletics senior baseball club wrapped up the regular North Dufferin Baseball Season schedule with a final game against the Mansfield cubs on the diamond at Riverdale Park in Alliston Sunday, July 18.

The Athletics will not be eligible for a spot in the playoffs this season.

Sunday’s game saw the Cubs take an early lead with two runs in the first inning of play.

Alliston started out with the bats moving in their first time up at the plate with Colin Kelcher and Shane Geniole getting on base with singles.

The Athletics were down by fives runs in the second after the Cubs capitalized on a loaded bases situation.

After two innings with no hits, the Athletics made a good effort in the fourth that resulted in two Mansfield outs on an Alliston double play.

The Athletics didn’t score until late in the game and had to settle for an 11 – 2 loss in their final outing on the diamond this year.

At the end of the regular season only eight teams will advance to the playoffs.

The Bolton Brewers finished in the top spot this year.

They are followed by the Ivy Leafs, New Lowell Knights, Clearview Orioles, Ivy Rangers, Midland Mariners, Lisle Astros, and the Creemore Braves.

The senior division playoff schedule is now on the NDBL website.

Games get underway on August 6, withe opening round a best-of-five series, or first to get six points.

Two points are awarded for a win. Teams will receive one point in the event of a tie game.
