Matthews House Hospice of Alliston will host its annual gala on Friday, September 27, from 6 p.m. until midnight at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.

This year’s fundraising event, entitled Butterfly Ball, is expected to attract close to 500 guests, and raise more than $200,000. The theme of butterflies (transformation) is consistent with the Alliston based hospice, even appearing in their logo.

The gala is made possible through countless Gala Committee volunteers, staff, donors and community partners, and last year’s event raised $238,000.

Guests can expect both a live and silent auction, gourmet buffet by David Mintz Catering (nominated for best caterer in Ontario), music by New Hollywood and a team of volunteers make this a special night.

“A highlight of the evening will be the Designer Purse draw where hidden in one of five Calvin Kline purses is a $2,000 diamond tennis bracelet donated by Taylor’s Jewellers,” said Andrea Roylance, Gifts & Gratitude, MHH. “Tickets are twenty dollars and you must be at the Gala to win.”

“Much gratitude to our many sponsors including RBC Royal Bank, HJ Vander Zaag Farms, Honda Canada Mfg,  Alliston Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, Cookstown Auto Sales,  Trailwood Transport Ltd., Ambler & Co. Inc., Drury Funeral Home, Deerfields Clinic,  Boston Pizza, Sleeman Breweries, The County of Simcoe,  The Circle Theatre, Red Pine Inn & Conference Centre, Town of New Tecumseth, Thomas Funeral Home,  Moffatt Mazda,  Wallwin Electric, IA Clarington, Wrays Guardian Pharmacy, The Co-operators – Gary Laakso Financial Services Inc, Monarch Wealth , McDonald’s, TD Wealth Canada just to name a few,” adds Roylance.

Proceeds from this event go directly towards services provided by Matthews House Hospice.

“Because there is no cost for Hospice services, Matthews House Hospice will continue to rely primarily on donations from individuals, businesses and organizations in South Simcoe and the proceeds of our fundraising events like the gala, to continue to provide community hospice and visiting hospice programs,” said Brenda Pufek, Community Engagement and Development for MHH. “Want to have more meaning in your life? Do you want to do something that is satisfying and of great service to your community? Then plan to attend The Butterfly Ball.”

Tickets are $175 per person, with a $50 tax receipt. A table of 10 can also be purchased for $1,750, with a $500 tax receipt.
