Express Bantams play solid home game for a win

The TNT Express bantam team turned out a stellar performance in their first home game of the fall season.

The squad gave up a loss the previous week in Port Dover but turned it all around when they returned to Mel Mitchell Field in Beeton on Saturday, September 7.

TNT took a good lead and were ahead 22 – 18 at the half.

First half scoring came from Austin Radzio, Logan Wolfe, and Matthew McDonald with TDs.

Early in the second half the Express pushed hard into the Clarington end.

Dominic Plaunt had a good run to gain yards followed by another good gain by Matthew McDonald.

Logan Wolfe got his second touchdown of the game in the third quarter. Kirk McNabb got the two-point convert.

Clarington scored midway in the quarter.

Wolfe got his third TD of the game when he broke to the left and sprinted down the sidelines for a 55-yard run.

It was a 36 – 32 game when the Knights scored late in the quarter to come within challenging distance. Wolfe scored for the Express – his fourth of the game – when he took the ball an went through the crowd to cross the goal.

The Knights challenged again late in the quarter when the Clarington QB called his own number and took the ball over the goal line.

Back on offence, Sean McDermott received the kick-off to drop the Express on the 40-yard line wit 2:23 left on the clock.

Wolfe got his fifth TD of the game late in the fourth quarter.

The final was a 50 – 46-win for the Express.

The Express Bantams will be back on their home field at Mel Mitchell on Saturday, September 14.

Game time is 11:00 a.m.
