On October 23, Donna Ramsay and Ed Chambers donated a van-load of new kids coats, boots, and snowsuits to the “Coats for Kids” program run by The Clothes Line in Alliston. Donna and Ed have been donating to the program for 14 years. They shop all year long to collect winter clothing for their annual donation. The “Coats for Kids,” program, now in its 15th year, collects gently used winter coats, boots, hats, mitts and scarfs in October and distributes them free of charge to families in need, in early November via The Clothes Line.

The program was expanded to Bradford last year through the Bradford Works office at 95 Holland Street West.

CONTACT Community Services, a local charity, operates The Clothes Line, the Bradford Works, Seniors programs, Free Income Tax Clinics for low-Income families and Housing Services for South Simcoe.

“Expanding the “Coats for Kids” program to Bradford was a natural extension for us,” says Emily McIntosh, Executive Director of CONTACT. “We saw the need in Bradford and decided to collect coats and distribute through our Bradford Works employment services office. We don’t want anyone in our community to be cold because they don’t have winter clothing. Some of our Bradford Works’ clients leveraged the program and word of mouth spread to others in need. We want to get the word out that we are offering the program both in Alliston and Bradford.”

You can donate  your gently used winter clothing and accessories to The Clothes Line at 55 Victoria Street West, Alliston or Bradford Works at 95 Holland Street, Bradford. Winter clothing is distributed to those in need from October 28 to November 16 at both locations.
