The Alliston Hornets added another two points to their total after a win over the Midland Flyers on Sunday night, November 10, at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.

In spite of the fact that most of the play in the first period of Sunday’s game took place in the Midland end, the Hornets only managed to score one goal when Didier Koenigs scored on a short-handed effort midway through the period.

The game was tied when Midland scored at 14:39 into the third.

The tie was short lived when Keegan Gillis-McAnulty got the second Alliston goal less than a minute later.

The Hornets took a three-goal lead when Jordan Taylor followed with an Alliston goal just over a minute later to make it a 3 -1 game.

Returning for the final period, neither team could score and the Hornets left the ice with a 3 – 1 win – win number 12 for the season.

The Hornets now have a 12 – 4 record including two overtime losses they took early in the season and 26 points.

They are in first place in the North Carruthers Division of the PJHL.

The Stayner Siskins are four points behind in second place.

The Schomberg Cougars are in the number three spot with 20 points an 8 – 2 record.

They are followed by the Orillia Terriers with 19 points and the Caledon Golden Hawks in fifth place with 18 points.

Over all in the PJHL, the Napanee Raiders are in the lead going undefeated after 16 games.

The Hornets will return to home ice this Friday, November 15, when they will host the Orillia Terriers.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.
