On the evening of Thursday, December 5, the Alliston Business Improvement Association (Alliston BIA) hosted its annual RURBAN Christmas Crawl in the downtown core.

In all, 29 RURBAN (or rural + urban = the best of both worlds) based businesses took part, in this one of a kind shopping experience, themed for the holiday season.

“Our Christmas Crawl provides shoppers with a unique opportunity to explore what boutique shops and restaurants Alliston has to offer,” Linda Spurr, Alliston BIA General Manager told The Times.

Shoppers were given a passport (available from the Alliston Business Improvement Association office located at 51 Victoria St. E. starting December 4).

“The passport included a listing of participating businesses, as well as a ballot that could be filled out and entered to win a downtown shopping prize pack,” said Spurr.

Participating businesses offered a variety of festive in-store events including special promotions and refreshments.

“With caroling appearances from the Sugartones and festive décor throughout downtown making for great photo opportunities, this truly is the ultimate holiday shopping event,” said Spurr. “Even the jolly man himself attended our Christmas Crawl, because even Santa shops downtown Alliston.”

2019 participating businesses were:

• Alliston Yarns

• Barb’s Clothes Closet

• Beach House Spa
