Michael Feldman, Vice President, Board of Directors for CONTACT Community Services was pleased to present Gladys Stewart with $8665 just before Christmas.

Stewart, the winner of the 2019 CONTACT 50/50 Holiday Fundraiser, says she knew how she wanted to use her winnings, and although she wasn’t specific in her response to The Times, did say that the money would be used wisely – to “spread some holiday joy over Christmas.”

“The Holiday 50/50 draw was a new fundraiser for CONTACT this year and the community has been extremely supportive,” said Emily McIntosh, Executive Director of CONTACT. “Many thanks to the community members, volunteers, friends and family members who participated in the fundraiser – buying tickets and also selling tickets on our behalf. The support we received is essential to help us offer our services and we look forward to continuing to serve South Simcoe in 2020.”

CONTACT, a charity that has supported residents in South Simcoe for 42 years, operates the Housing Resource Centre in Alliston offering housing assistance for those who are experiencing homeless or housing insecurity. In Bradford, they operate the Employment Services office helping both job seekers and employers. CONTACT also provides a database for volunteers to connect with organizations in need of help, runs a variety of free health and wellness programs for seniors in Beeton, Alliston and Bradford, and holds free income tax clinics for low-income individuals.
