An 11-game winning streak ended for the Alliston Hornets when they travelled to Orillia to take on the Terriers on Saturday, January 25.

The Hornets failed to score in the first two periods while Orillia picked up singles in both frames.

Alliston’s Braydon Hogarth got the only Hornets goal of the night on a powerplay at 1:08 into the third period.

The Terriers picked up two more goals in the third for a 4 – 1 win.

The game might be a precursor of an upcoming series once the Carruthers North Division playoffs

are underway.

Orillia is currently in third place behind the Hornets.

The Hornets did much better on Friday night when they hosted the Schomberg Cougars at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre.

Christian Moore opened the scoring for Alliston late in the first period.

That was followed by a devastating second period that saw the Hornets score five unanswered goals that gave them a 6 -1 lead with one period left to go.

Alliston goals came from Didier Koenigs, Jordan Taylor on a powerplay, Liam Kendall, and a pair from Ryan Sallows.

Schomberg avoided the shutout when they scored a single goal in the third period.

The final was a 6 – 1 for the Hornets.

With one game left on the regular season schedule, the Hornets will finish in first place – they are currently a full 18 points ahead of the second place Stayner Siskins as of the weekend.

Going into the playoffs the Hornets will be up against the last place Huntsville Otters in the first round.

Stayner will face the Midland Flyers. Orillia will meet the Caledon Golden Hawks.

In the middle of the pack Penetang and Schomberg will battle it out in their first round series.

The Hornets will finish off the regular season this Friday night, January 31, with a home game against the Huntsville Otters.

The puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the NTRC.
