Hornets will meet Penetang in semi-final

It’s going to be an Alliston Hornets / Penetang Kings match-up in the semi-final round of the Carruthers Division playoffs.

The Hornets, who finished in first place in the Division this year, eliminated the Huntsville Otters in four games in the quarter-final round.

Alliston finished the regular season with a 34-7-1 record including three overtime losses to record 72 points for the season.

That series wrapped up on February 16, with a 7 – 4 Alliston win on Huntsville home ice.

The Penetang Kings dispatched the Caledon Golden Hawks in four straight in their series.

Penetang had a middle-of-the-pack season finishing in fourth place with a 20-22 record and 41 points.

The second place Stayner Siskins won their quarter-final in a series that went five games and finished on February 20, with a 5 -4 win for the Siskins on their home ice in Stayer.

The Siskins will now be up against the Orillia Terriers in their semi-final series.

Orillia had a strong start this year and were in second place before dropping down to third with a couple of losses.

The Terriers ended the season with a 25-17 record that included three overtime losses.

With four teams left in the running for the Division championship fans will be treated to some fast and furious hockey as the next round of playoffs get underway and the squads battle to secure a place in the championship series.

The Hornets will be out to defend their championship status.

The semi-final series with Penetang got underway at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Tuesday, February 25.

Game 3 – Sunday, March 1, @ Alliston 6:30 p.m.

Game 4 – Wednesday, March 4 @ Penetang (Time not announced)
