The Alliston Hornets’ semi-final series for the North Carruthers Division championships is tied at one after the Hornets gave up a 6 -3 loss on Penetang Kings home ice on Sunday, March 1.

Game One of the series got underway on February 25, in Alliston. That game put the Alliston team ahead with a 6 – 2 win.

The series was supposed to continue in Penetang on Friday night; however, that game was postponed and the series moved to Penetang for Game Two on Sunday.

Game Two got off to an even start with the teams playing to a 2 – 2 tie at the end of the first period.

Brandon Smyth got the game opener just 1:08 into the first period.

Jordan Taylor got the second Alliston goal.

It was a tie game midway through the second frame after the Kings scored for the lead and Ryan Sallows tied it up at the 11:10 mark in the period.

It was the second half of the second that caused all the trouble for the Hornets when Penetang scored three goals in the space of a minute to take a 6 – 3 lead with one period left to play.

Neither team could score in the final period and the Kings left the ice with a win to tie the series at one game apiece.

In the other Division semi-final, the Stayner Siskins are leading the Orillia Terriers 2 – 1 in their match-up.

Orillia won the opening game on February 25. Stayner bounced back to win 4 – 3 in Game Two, then repeated with another 4 – 3 in in game four on Siskins home ice on Sunday, March 1.

Game Three of the Alliston / Penetang series was slated for Wednesday, March 4, in Penetang with results not available at press time.

Game Four is scheduled for Friday, March 6, at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre in Alliston.

The puck drop is slated for 7:30 p.m.
