Simcoe Manor redevelopment being kept on track

May 1, 2020   ·   0 Comments

To allow for the reconstruction of Beeton’s Simcoe Manor in a timely manner, Deputy Mayor Richard Norcross amended a report brought forward at last Monday’s Council meeting.

The report recommended that Council not consider applications which propose to expand a settlement area boundary that the long-term care facility was under, so Norcross made the amendment to exclude it.

He said the Town has been planning for its $120 to $140 million expansion for about a decade and he doesn’t want to see any delays.

“It’s going to dramatically increase our assisted living and our affordable living for our seniors in the Town of New Tecumseth,” he stressed.

“I’m hoping this project can commence as soon as possible.”
