Throughout New Tecumseth, people are doing what they can to help others and be supportive of the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At Simcoe Manor, a group of active knitters have been making mask extenders for the long-term care home’s staff.
The mask extenders wrap around the back of a person’s head and are used to clip on masks.
“We have a few residents who have been knitting these and donating them back to our staff members, because they’re wanting to give back and help out too,” said Rosa Athanassoulis
While the frontline staff at long-term care homes are being championed in the media for the work they’re doing to keep seniors safe, Athanassoulis said Simcoe Manor’s residents are rock stars as well.
“It’s not just about us giving to the residents it’s about them also wanting to help us out,” she smiled.
