A “Halloween Hoorah” ends successful Farmers’ Market season in Alliston

November 19, 2020   ·   0 Comments

On Saturday, October 31, the Alliston Business Improvement Association celebrated Halloween at the final Rurban Farmers’ Market of the season.

This year, the ABIA had to reimagine what would have been the annual Monster Mash event to fit within SMDHU guidelines and ensure that community safety remained a top priority.

Working with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit and with the ongoing support of member businesses, the ABIA was able to host a scaled down, spaced out version of this fun-filled, family favourite.

Close to 1,000 people (942 at Market entry counts) came downtown and enjoyed a sunny day supporting the market vendors to finish off a very successful season.

Families were able to stock up on their favourite products before heading over to the ABIA tents to pick up some treats, pumpkins and other prizes. The closure of Victoria Street allowed for social distancing measures to be followed while the community strolled downtown, supported local businesses and took photos to enter the ABIA Monster Hunt contest.

ABIA initiatives would not be possible without the support and generosity of our member businesses. Now more than ever it’s important to remember to shop local whenever possible, especially heading into the holiday season.

Local Alliston business owners work hard to bring you a safe shopping experience and nothing beats the personalized service of small-town shopping.
