Man charged with second degree murder in Tottenham homicide

A Tottenham man has been charged with second degree murder after an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.

Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of OPP responded to a Clifford Crescent residence on Tuesday, January 26, at approximately 3:20 a.m.

Upon arriving at the residence, the police located a decease adult female in the home.

Neighbours on the street reported seeing police officers outdoors and “looking for someone” in the early morning hours.

A man was arrested at the scene.

It was later confirmed that the deceased and accused are “mother and son.”

Police remained at the location into the next day conducting their investigation and gathering evidence, however they have not released any details of the investigation including how the deceased was killed.

The deceased woman was identified as Claudia Anna Ricci.

Ricci's 31-year-old son, Christopher Iannacchino, is in police customer and has been charged with second degree murder.

He is scheduled for a video appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice on Tuesday, February, 2.

The charges have not been proven.

A post-mortem examination has been performed and further testing will be conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services and Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

The investigation into this incident continues by members of the Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch.
