Coldest Night of the Year benefits Alliston Out of the Cold

February 18, 2021   ·   0 Comments

This walk is a fundraiser and a reminder of what it is like during the winter months if you don’t have a proper shelter or home.

The second annual Coldest Night of the Year event will take place in Alliston on Saturday, February 20. The walk is in support of Alliston Out of the Cold – a place that provides safe, respectful and welcoming overnight accommodation and meals to those experiencing homelessness from November to April.

This year, you can participate in the event virtually or in-person during the socially-distanced “virtually live” event.

You can walk your own route or follow a route that has been prepared for participants.

The Coldest Night of the Year is a charitable program of Blue Sea Foundation, a registered Canadian Foundation.

Since 2011, the national event has raised over $33,500,000 in support of over 140 communities and charity partners serving families, youth, and adults experiencing homelessness.

Last year, Alliston Out of the Cold held its first event and raised nearly $65,000 to support programming, operational and administrative costs.

This year, the goal has been set even higher and the shelter hopes to raise $90,000 during the event.

Alliston Out of the Cold has experienced rising costs of operation as they grow to meet the needs of the community.

During The Coldest Night of the Year event, thousands of Canadians step outside the warmth and comfort of home to participate in the walk.

You can participate virtually from anywhere in the world and you can walk any time in February or join in with the rest of the group during the February 20 event.

You can register to walk and raise funds as a member of a team, or on your own.

You find out more information and register for the walk by visiting on-line at www.cnoy.org/Alliston.
