Survey requests input from residents on safety and well-being

March 4, 2021   ·   0 Comments

This is your opportunity to have some input on your community and available services.

The Ontario Government requires each municipality to develop a Community Safety and Well-Being plan (CSWB), as required under Bill 175, Safer Ontario Act 2019.

The Town of New Tecumseth is now working in collaboration with the Townships of Essa and Adjala-Tosorontio as well as the Nottawasaga OPP and the County of Simcoe to prepare a CSWB plan.

CSWB planning supports an approach to addressing local priorities. This plan looks at factors that support a sustainable community where citizens feel safe, have a sense of belonging, have access to services, and where individuals’ families are able to meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression.

Avail Consulting will lead the project. The Town of New Tecumseth, the Townships of Essa and Adjala-Tosorontio will form the Nottawasaga grouping.

The CSWB Plan starts with considering risk factors such as systematic discrimination, affordable housing, poverty, mental health, and other social factors that may contribute to crime.

The Nottawasaga working group has identified mental health, housing and job creation as the collective areas of focus.

In order introduce the plan to the community and encourage feedback, thoughts, and recommendations from local residents, Avail Consulting has created an on-line survey were you can participate and offer your input.

You can complete the survey on-line by visiting www.surveymonkey.com/r/nottawasagaGMG.
