The Nottawasaga OPP were steady with motor vehicle collisions on February 28th from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Police responded to 18 reported motor vehicle collisions, ten were minor in nature with one involving some injuries that required hospitalization but many of the collisions involved multiple vehicles, which kept Nottawasaga OPP Officers busy for hours.
At this time of year, we are experiencing changing temperatures, please be mindful of the changes in the temperature and road conditions. Adjust your driving accordingly, reducing your speed will give you the necessary time to react.
Be aware of “black ice”, a virtually transparent ice which allows black asphalt to appear clear and ice free, this poses a danger as driver’s are unable to see the ice.
Prepare your vehicle with some items that can help you if you have to turn your vehicle off during a collision, have a warm blanket, a flashlight, a flare to warn other motorists of your vehicle’s location.
