May 9, 2013   ·   0 Comments

On April 23th, the Nottawasaga OPP set up a safety lane and it resulted in 13 charges laid on commercial motor vehicles in the downtown core of Beeton.

On April 30th, the OPP set up in the same location and completed 6 full truck inspections of commercial motor vehicles; these inspections are quite detailed and can take between 1 to 6 hours to complete depending on the condition of the vehicle.

Out of the six inspections, three (50%) of the commercial motor vehicles were parked due to defects and put out of service.  The charges in total were: Overweight – 2; Equipment Defects – 5; Trip Inspection issues – 4; Insurance – 1; Speeding – 1 (Commercial pick-up on County Rd 1).

The OPP are committed to ensuring that our roadways are safe and that the motoring public are following the rules of the road for everyone’s safety.
