Hornets win two out of three over the weekend

The Alliston Hornets flipped their record over to the plus side with a couple of wins over the weekend.

The Hornets were on the road for all three games on the schedule.

Things got underway on Thursday, November 4, when the team took the trip down Highway 27, to visit the Schomberg Cougars.

The Hornets had a tough time on the ice when Schomberg scored four unanswered goals in the first period of play.

Jakob Power got the only Hornets goal of the night in the second period.

The Cougars finished up the night with two more third period goals to take the game with a 7-1 win.

The big surprise of the weekend came during their Saturday night game against the first place Orillia Terriers.

Starting off strong this season the Terriers are in first place and went into this game with only one loss behind them.

Alliston was leading 3-1 going into the final frame.

They unleashed a full throttle assault on the Orillia team scoring five unanswered third period goals

to handily win the game 8-1.

Back on the ice on Sunday, the Hornets travelled to Caledon to take on the Golden Hawks.

For the second day in a row, they got down to some serious scoring.

After leading 3-1 at the end of the second period, the Alliston squad finished off the night with three more in the third period to leave the ice with a 6-1 win.

The four points moves the Hornets up one notch in the standings and they are now in fourth place with a 6-5-1 record.

The Hornets will be on the road this Saturday when the get another shot at Schomberg on Schomberg home ice.

They will return to the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre on Sunday, November 14, to host the Penetang Kings.

Game time is 6:30 p.m.
