A minute of silence on May 9th, National Day of Honour

The National Day of Honour is May 9th 2014. The Prime Minister’s office made the official proclamation on March 19th but since then I feel the federal government has dropped the ball. Not very many communities know of the day or what it’s about. I implore everyone in this country to understand and learn more and to help promote this day by having your communities participate. Since we are short on time, we can make some every simple but respectful ways of showing the troops and their families the recognition that they deserve. On Friday May 9th on the National Day of Honour if everyone could wear red, decorate their homes, businesses, stores, municipal and provincial offices in Canadian flags, red ribbons, yellow ribbons and have signs saying “thank you” and if your community is having an event, participate in it. We must remember all those who have lost their lives, or have been injured by showing respect for their families by participating on this day in some way. There are some very good organizations who are helping the veterans, and their families – search them out and support them. At 1:30 p.m. EST there will be a national moment of silence. Please take the time to remember and say thank you!
