The Achill Choral Society welcomed guests to their choir practice in order to recognize funding they received for new speakers and lighting thanks to a $4,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). “We are very thankful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their support of the Achill Choral Society in the acquisition of new sound and lighting equipment. This will enable our choir to continue to bring a very high quality musical product to our community, enriching the lives of our singers and our audiences, as well as the arts landscape in this region,” said Naomi Simpson, president, Achill Choral Society. Achill Choral Society is a community group of men and women who love to sing. Thanks to the commitment and vision of founding director, A. Dale Wood, the group has just celebrated thirty years of singing together. Each Christmas and spring, Achill perform concerts in the churches and halls of our communities. Their next performance will be on Sunday, April 28th, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Colgan, where they will be performing Brahms “Requiem.” Pictured, left to right: Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) representative Winston Uytenbogaart; Achill conductor Dale Wood; Achill president Naomi Simpson; and MPP for Dufferin–Caledon, Ms. Sylvia Jones.
