The Nottawasaga and Caledon Detachments of the OPP with the assistance of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) is continuing its investigation into the homicide of 39-year-old Herminder BHANDAL, of Brampton Ontario. The victim was recovered from a burned vehicle in the area of Scotch Line and County Road 21 in Essa Township on Sunday August 25, 2013 at 6:15 a.m.
As a result of the investigation that is continuing under the direction of CIB Detective Inspector Colleen McCormick, with the assistance of the Peel Regional Police Homicide Unit, five (5) persons that have been arrested. Investigators can now confirm that the following persons, who all reside in Brampton, Ontario are facing charges of First Degree Murder: Jagjeet Singh – 35 years of age; Resham Gidhay– 39 years of age; Kulbir Kullar – 34 years of age; Charnjit Boughan – 33 years of age; Jagdeep Jassar – 24 years of age.
A sixth person was arrested yesterday and is now facing a charge of Accessory After the Fact to Murder. The identity of that person cannot be released until later they appear for a Bail Hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Orangeville.
Investigators are asking for the assistance of the public and would like to speak to the driver or passenger of a blue coloured motor vehicle. The occupants of this motor vehicle are believed to have been in the area of County Road 21 at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Sunday August 25, and had a conversation with a group of males who were standing between a U-Haul cube van and a Nissan Murano.
