The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) celebrates its fifth annual SCDSB Operations Appreciation Week (formerly Custodian Appreciation Week) from Feb. 10 to 14, 2014. This annual event highlights the integral role that operations staff has in providing safe and clean learning and working environments for students, staff, and the local communities.
This year, the Facility Services Department held a poster contest, inviting students to create posters that will help celebrate the event, asking the question “What do Operations Staff mean to our schools?” The winning entry came from W.C. Little Elementary School student Chelsea.
“This week is an important opportunity to say thank you to our operations staff—our custodians and maintenance employees—who help ensure our schools are clean, safe and welcoming places for students to learn and grow,” says Kathi Wallace, Director of Education.
Operations management teams will visit with school staff throughout the week and SCDSB schools host a variety of activities to honour their operations staff.
