On July 30, at 11:24 a.m., officers from the Nottawasaga OPP received a call about a break and enter to a vehicle that happened overnight on Smyth Crescent in Alliston.
The incident took place at approximately 2 a.m. and information relayed to police indicated that there were two suspects that approached the vehicle in the driveway and tried the vehicle doors to see if they were left open. They were locked and the suspects left the driveway.
The Nottawasaga OPP would like to ask the public to ensure you lock your vehicles when you park, provide good lighting such as motion activated lighting in your driveway and remove your valuables from inside the vehicle before you lock and leave your vehicle.
Theft from motor vehicles is an ongoing crime which directly impacts victims and places a strain on valuable police resources. If you see any suspicious behavior near your vehicle or your neighbor’s vehicle; call the police immediately at 1-888-310-1122, let’s work together to stop this criminal activity.
Here are some helpful tips:
• Roll up your vehicle windows;
• Keep your valuables out of sight, such as purses, GPS navigation tools and coins;
• Lock your doors; and
• Pocket your keys.
