Baby robins

Tottenham residents Kara and Steve Percy are sharing their backyard with a family of nesting Robins. “We noticed the mom in the tree a few weeks back and knew at that point that there must have been a nest in the tree,” Kara told the Times. “The nest is low enough in the tree that we can see what’s in it by standing on a stool and taking a peak. At first there was three eggs but a couple days later we noticed there was four. We started going out to the tree once a day to take pictures to follow the progress of the eggs/babies. Before the eggs hatches we noticed the black birds were after them so we tried to protect them as much as we could.  We did this for about a week and then one day while my husband was out sitting on the back deck the papa bird came and perched about 3 feet away from him, eyed him up and just watched him. Steve said it was like the papa bird was saying ‘Thanks for the help!’. They have become very comfortable with us and our children. The mama and papa are constantly feeding the babies throughout the day.  The babies are about 10 days old now and we can’t believe how much they grow from day to day. We go out to visit them once a day to document their progress.  It’s been a wonderful teachable moment for our son and other friends on social media along with their children. We will continue to follow the babies in their quest to become independent. There’s so much more for the to experience and learn.”
