Soccer teams from around the region turned out for the annual OFSAA sanctioned Banting Memorial High School girls soccer tournament on Friday, May 3. Eight senior teams and seven junior squads participated in the invitational event that was played in a round robin format. The host team, Banting Junior girls qualified for the final after playing to a 3-0-1 record in the round robin play, but lost 2-0 to to Sacred Heart Catholic High School from Newmarket. The Banting senior girls team made it to the semi-finals before losing 1-0 to Collingwood. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Tottenham made a good showing but didn’t advance past the round robin tournament.
