Canadian Blood Services and FedEx Express Canada recognized last year’s national winner for new donor recruitment in the ‘Young Blood for Life Program’ at Banting Memorial High School, in Alliston last month.
This nationwide, student-led challenge is designed to increase blood donations and recruit first time donors among students aged 17 years and older.
Michael Betel, Director of Donor Relations, South Central Ontario, was on hand at the school on Thursday September 17 to extend his congratulations to the students.
Canadian Blood Services manages the national supply of blood, blood products and stem cells, and related services for all the provinces and territories (excluding Quebec).
“We operate an integrated, pan-Canadian service delivery model that includes leading an interprovincial system for organ donation and transplantation,” said Betel . “Our national scope, infrastructure and governance make us unique in the Canadian healthcare landscape. Canadian Blood Services is regulated as a biologics manufacturer by Health Canada and primarily funded by the provincial and territorial ministries of health.”
Canadian Blood Services is a not-for-profit charitable organization and is always looking for returning and first time donors.
