And now for something entirely different. Tottenham’s Church of the Evangelists’ 2013 Glad Tidings concert series has, for its third concert this spring, an afternoon celebrating baroque music. St. John’s Church, which has both architecture and chandeliers that are reminiscent of that style, will be hosting this event on June 23 at 3 p.m.
Featured is the Apollo Ensemble with Wayne Irschick, harpsichord, John Blaise, flute, Julian Blaise, cello, Kerri Lowitt violin and joining the ensemble is soloist Dr. Sunyatta Guild. This 1800’s church will resonate to the vocal and instrumental works of the period by composers such as Bach, Handel & Purcell. The concert’s title is “What Passion Cannot Music Raise and Quell” and, with Sunyatta’s lovely soprano voice, will indeed be a country concert not to miss.
The picturesque St. John’s Anglican Chapel is located at #5268 on the 6th Line of New Tecumseth (just east of the 15th Sideroad). Tickets are modestly priced at $10 and may be purchased by calling 905 729-2492.
