Boy! What a wonderful day for Lawn Bowling. The first club tournament of the season at the Beeton Lawn Bowling Club was held on Tuesday, July 23rd with 24 players coming from Uxbridge, Midland, Newmarket, Collingwood, Elora and Beeton. The rain held off, it wasn’t too hot and the games were excellent. In lawn bowling, the perfect score for an end (all the points) is eight. The team of Evelyn and Lorna from Elora achieved this rare “8-ender”. Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie and the wonderful snacks. The tournament winning teams were Brenda Farthing from Uxbridge (3 game highest score), Eve Robson from Elora (2 game) and Wanda Turner from Elora (single game). A special thanks goes to our tournament sponsor, Trillium Ford in Alliston. We could not have had such a successful event without their support.
August is going to be a very busy month around the club. On Sunday August 11th, we hold a Women’s Pairs / Mixed Pairs tournament. Sunday, August 18th is “Meet Your Neighbour” Picnic in Beeton Park. Lawn bowling will be open from 2 – 4 p.m. for games and demonstrations. So, bring your neighbour to the picnic and do some bowling! (We have the bowls; you just need flat shoes).
Our third tournament of the season, and our most popular, is the Fun Day tournament on Friday, August 23rd. We have participants coming back each year to this day of a variety of lawn bowling games and skill challenges. Spectators are always welcome. If you have any questions, drop by any Monday or Thursday evening.
