Beeton yoga studio to host fundraiser Saturday

The Town of New Tecumseth and its residents are rallying together to help Madison Vanstone, and her family.

Madison is 11-years-old, and has been suffering from Cystic Fibrosis her entire life.

Doctors recently informed Madison and her family of a new, revolutionary drug that will dramatically improve Madison’s quality of life.

Vertex recently developed Kalydeco, and the FDA approved it in December 2012. Kalydeco will correct the gene that is malfunctioning within Madison’s body, improving her well being instantly.

Kalydeco was the type of news the Vanstone family had been waiting for, the only negative to the drug is its price. With an initial cost of $300,000, Madison has yet to experience Kalydeco.

The Vladstone’s are currently in search of fundraising, to ensure Madison receives the drug she needs. The family’s insurance covers 50% of the cost, and Vertex is covering 30%, but with no government coverage the family still needs $60,000.

The Town of New Tecumseth has been extremely supportive of Madison and her family, especially the town’s residents.

Cathy Clark operates the One Love, One Heart yoga studio in Beeton, and is spearheading a fundraiser to help the Vladstones. Clark is holding a yoga fundraiser at her studio, as well as a silent auction.

The fundraiser is scheduled for July 27th, at noon in Beeton. All proceeds of the fundraiser will be directed to purchasing Kalydeco for Madison.
