Michael Blacklaws is the new chief of Rosemont Fire Department.
Blacklaws, who has previously served as the department’s fire chief, replaces Wayne McIsaac who resigned effective April 10. Blacklaws was serving as acting chief and was appointed chief on April 24.
Councillor Doug Little said that after the resignation of McIsaac that he felt that the three municipalities, Mono, Mulmur and
Adjala-Tosorontio, who make up the fire board have to redraft the regulatory bylaw which governs their membership in the board.
“All three bylaws are different and we need consistency to reduce problems,” he said. “I know that all the municipalities have agreements with adjoining municipalities, which aren’t part of the Rosemont board, but we need some uniformity here. Its what the provincial Fire Marshall’s office has asked for.”
Council passed a resolution on the need for the redrafted bylaw which will be sent to Mulmur and Mono.
